Where You Stay in New Orleans from Now On

None 6 Photos The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery
“It used to be a coffee warehouse that dates back to 1854, but now it’s a hotel with a pillow menu and books about dog massage.”

You don’t get to say that enough.

But now you do at The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, a new leisuring situation in New Orleans’s Warehouse Arts District that’s got some interesting things going on inside of it, now taking reservations for an April 17 opening. (Slideshow’s this way.)

You’re going to come here when you need to get some New Orleans–ing out of your system. To be surrounded by original hardwood floors, many exposed bricks, soaring windows and hidden nooks with cozy armchairs in them. To eat beignets and drink hurricanes a few blocks away on Bourbon because that’s how New Orleans works.

Rooms, though. They’ve got 167 of those, and they’re decked out with things like beds and walls and... look, the rooms are nice.

Pick some mood music from their Spotify channel and contemplate something. Try not to feel weird about browsing through the pillow menu. Try even harder not to feel weird when you start thumbing through those books about dog massage and pet psychology.

Maybe just leave the room.
